"Surrender"; A Female Lampwork Glass Sculpture

This summer I started experimenting a little more with the human figure. "Surrender" was the first one. She is a kind of prototype of what is to come. A study in the movement of the human form. I am still playing with the base as well. I want to make more of a flower garden paperweight for her to stand on. So, after I made this one I purchased a "How To" PDF from Patsy Evins  to learn more about the structure of flowers in glass.

Although Patsy creates very intricate Art Glass Beads the principles still apply in larger form, and I admire her style.

This little Female Sculpture is taking a moment out of her day, to surrender herself to the moment, leaning back, soaking in the tranquility as the warmth spreads through her body.

Her arms are spread gentle and wide. Feet dancing amongst the red flowers.

Mmmm..this is how I prefer to start my day. Calm Meditation and Thankfulness for the many Blessings in my life.

It some how puts the rest of my day into the right perspective and keeps me at Peace.

Lampwork Glass Paperweights, Frit Implosion

Boro Glass Paperweight, Double Dome
I was asked to make a couple of these as custom orders. They really are my Cabochons on Steroids..

Dimensions : 2" W x 1" Thick

Front View of the Double Dome Paperweight

This first one I made creating a "Double Dome" which gives a Fish Eye or Magnified effect to the inside frit design. It reminds me of looking through a Kaleidoscope in that depending on the angle you view it the colors look different.

This one has yellow frit, blue, and amber purple imploded into the clear glass sphere which gives it like a mystical, abstract design.

Just like the Cabochons, these Paperweight are made using Frit Glass.. check out my post..What is Frit for more on the subject.
I also use the boro glass rods you see laying on my torch bench, a torch and kiln.

The Flower Garden

Flamework Art Glass Sculpture, White Flower Garden

Pictures can not even show how Beautiful this Glass Sculpture truly is. I did my absolute best to capture the Elegance and Movement of Form. I took 64 images, it was hard to narrow it down to only 10!

When seen in the Sunlight it is stunning. The Sun Illuminates the glass and causes it to sparkle and dance.

I worked on creating this piece over several Days. I started out with a design in mind but as I worked it told me it's story... Each piece starts to take on a life of it's own... not even I know the ending until I take it out of the kiln after the cool down process.

This one wanted to be Organic, following in the Art Nouveau Style, which I happen to LOve!! So Playful and Romantic!!

The center of these Flowers are made from Onyx Frit, Fine. I gave them a triple coating so they would have depth.

It doesn't matter what angle you turn it.. it still looks Good!!
