Magazine Tutorial

The Flow Magazine arrived today in my mail box.. Yeah!!!.. I have been waiting since September to see if my tutorial, “Swimmer” made it in the issue or not.. it did not.. Mmm.. Ya.. I’ll admit when I thumbed through the magazine and didn't see my tutorial,, I was bummed. But.. what a great experience it was learning how to create a PDF with Pics.. Honestly before Leah asked me to do it I never even considered submitting one .. What do I know about creating tutorials? It was a laborious process, Making the sculpture and photographing each step along the way, sometimes re-shooting several times, but I felt such a sense of accomplishment and pride when I was finished. It was weeks of time well spent. And the Swimmer.. She turned out gorgeous.. Leah made the process easy by editing my steps for me, correcting my grammar and run on sentences, which I am famous for doing.. I write like I talk..

On the Bright side.. my sculpture, “Melt Down on a Daisy of a Day” did make it into the gallery pages.. Woo Hoo..

I made this Organic Flower Sculpture in 2010. It was part of a new series for me and it started a whole new way of design for me. More exploration into botanical, earthy, pieces with vines and branches and weaved glass bowls.

It is part of my personal collection, I couldn't possibly ever part with it.

You know,, at times like these I think about Thomas Edison..  He said, "If I find 10,000 ways something won't work, I haven't failed. I am not discouraged, because every wrong attempt discarded is another step forward."

Love it!! As long as we keep trying for something and moving forward we will be successful!!

I’m still trying to find out if the submission I made could show up in a future issue or if it is a one time shot.. If one time I will share more pics and a bit about the process here on my Blog …

In the meantime go check out all of the lovely glass ladies in this issue of the Flow Magazine, Winter edition/2012. It's all about Women In Glass. Check out the Amazing Sculpture by Jennifer Umphress on the cover!! That is Incredible.

There are also several Glass Artist from Etsy in the Gallery Pages.
